NEWS + VIDEO: Lecrae talks to CNN about Ferguson protests, Christian stereotypes

Friday, CNN released a video interview with Lecrae, who had dropped his new mixtape, Church Clothes 3, the week before.

Lecrae talked about Christian stereotypes and how he approaches breaking
them, as well as going to protests in his hometown of Atlanta last

“I involved myself in the protests after Ferguson here in Atlanta for a

college students were looking at me saying, ‘Hey, what should we be

Lecrae was actually interviewed
at an Atlanta protest, a clip of which is included in the video
interview. He shared what happened there, and how he tried to help
protesters use their frustration for productivity, rather than

“I saw a taxi cab, and his window had been smashed in,” Lecrae said. “I
wanted to make sure I went up to that man and told him that I was
willing to pay for that because that’s not what we’re about here, and
that’s not what this is about. And part of it for me was to be there to
educate, to be there to help them, to be there to say, ‘What is the
strategy you want to employ here versus just getting out here, burning
trash cans and breaking windows?'”
