Jamie Grace announced today she is no longer signed with Gotee Records.
The 24-year-old singer posted several paragraphs via social media indicating that she has returned to life as an independent artist, at least for now, and promised new music and tours soon.
“I am very excited to say that I have been working on new music and will be touring and releasing new music very soon,” she wrote.
“However, while I am grateful for how my platform as an artist was expanded while on Gotee Records, the steps I take in the future will not be as artist on that label.”
Her sister, fellow artist and WE LOVE CHRISTIAN MUSIC AWARDS nominee Morgan Harper Nichols, also has left the label, and published a similar set of Twitter posts .
The news comes on the heels of a recent string of Twitter messages Jamie Grace posted , hinting at rough times with the TobyMac-founded label, indicating she hadn’t been able to release the new music she’d written, and was feeling “broken and hurt.”
She said she’d seriously considered retiring, but an outpouring of fan support and her recent appearance with Adele onstage (and subsequent publicity) gave the “Hold Me” singer a much-needed boost of positivity and visibility.
Gotee Records put out an official statement about their now-former artists, stating: “Gotee Records has released Jamie Grace and Morgan Harper Nichols from their future recording commitments to the label.
The decision was made jointly with the girls’ management upon the shared belief that a continued partnership would not be in the best interests of either the label or the artists.
The separation is amicable, and we at Gotee sincerely wish both Jamie and Morgan the very best in their future endeavors.”.

Moving forward, Jamie Grace says she’s excited to return to an artistry that more represents her beginnings as an independent, social media-driven artist.
“Jamie Grace right now is the same Jamie Grace who signed up at [YouTube] ten years ago to make people smile,” she wrote. “To bring people joy. To encourage people. All because I found the love of Jesus and desperately needed to share it.”
In addition to new music, Jamie Grace pointed to new books, ministry opportunities, and films (and “all else the Lord puts on my heart”) on the horizon, and that in all those things, she says she’ll strive to “tell the world about the joy I found in Jesus Christ.”
