“YB is savvy about positioning himself as a crossover artist who can appeal to devoted Christians and listeners just looking for a hot tune.” – Sarasota Magazine
Asbury Park, New Jersey (October 9, 2019) – Rising hip-hop artist YB debuts his new album titled “Fire & Desire” which features the popular singles “Clark Kent” and “My Shot.”
The album “Fire & Desire” takes listeners on a journey through the peaks and valleys of YB’s life since bursting onto the music scene in 2014 with his debut album Salvation. Each track is raw, honest and a clear depiction of his experiences. From songs like “Dear Soldiers” to “Worth It” YB is bold in his truth. As an advocate for youth empowerment, YB aims to uplift younger fans through the lyrical content heard on Fire & Desire.
He tells The Christian Beat, “I believe we have a generation full of the next greats, but for anything great to truly manifest, we have to understand, it will take us enduring the highs and the lows.”
Passionate, lyrical firestorms like “Fire Emoji 2” and “Diamond in the Dirt” leave little doubt in the listeners mind about YB’s intentions. “He raps with a flexible flow that bounces from introspection to despair to hyped-up in the space of a verse,” says Sarasota Magazine. Earmilk describes him as “a man with a mission” and Louder Than Music added, “YB has been determined to release fresh, engaging content to the youth of this generation.”
“Fire & Desire” is YB’s most vulnerable artistic output to date. His lead single “Clark Kent” set the tone for the project in the late spring. His hometown newspaper the Arkansas Democrat Gazette noted, “Clark Kent,” with its ominous, minimal beat, is a head-bobbing, crowd-pleasing celebration of faith.”
“Clark Kent” sent YB’s social media following into a frenzy, but the next single “My Shot” drew national acclaim. New York-based hip-hop and photojournalism magazine RESPECT. who’s featured major hip-hop artists like Drake and Eminem premiered the music video. “The visual is meant to inspire viewers to stay true to themselves.” Many other music platforms followed suit.
Leading Christian hip-hop publication Rapzilla said, “My Shot” does a great job of pointing YB’s listeners towards the God that changed his life and gave him hope.”
The award winning hip-hop news site All Hip-Hop stated, “This [“My Shot”] is a pretty cool song.”
Bi-annual contemporary lifestyle magazine Bluntiq characterizes YB as “an artist chasing something much more meaningful” and The Hype Magazine declared, “[YB is] staying true to himself and not selling out to gain fame and fortune.”
YB’s new album Fire & Desire is a reflection of the sentiments expressed by music enthusiast throughout the country. The 11-track project has potential to surpass the success of his previous album God Still Has Soldiers 2 which peaked at #20 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel charts.
“The journey on this album included the mountaintops and valleys, states YB when asked about Fire & Desire. “I think expressing that side of the journey has become more crucial than ever before.”
