TobyMac Drops “21 Years” Music Video

TobyMac releases a new song and visual titled “21 Years,” in honour of his son, Truett. The song “21 Years” is a personal song about Toby’s son, who was 21 years old at the time of his death. On October 23rd, TobyMac’s oldest son Truett McKeehan suddenly passed away. The family has been mourning the loss of Truett, and during that process, TobyMac has written a new song called “21 Years” that releases on January 9th in honour of his son.

“The last couple of months have been the hardest I’ve ever faced. Thank you for your love and support.” Toby shared on Instagram. “Part of my process has always been to write about the things I’m going through, but this went to a whole new level. What started out as getting some of my thoughts and feelings about losing my firstborn son down on paper, ended up a song. ’21 Years’ is a song I never wanted to write. I hope it’s for someone out there, or maybe it’s just for me.”

In only two hours, Toby’s announcement post of this new song reached over 62,000 likes on Instagram and more than 2,000 comments from fans sharing their support and prayers for the McKeehan family.
