Bethel Music worship leader Cory Asbury has been teasing new music coming this month on his social media feeds for a few weeks now. Few hours ago, he made the first big announcement about what’s coming up next for him – he is re-releasing the single “Reckless Love” with pop artist and outspoken Christian Tori Kelly. Earlier on January 8, Asbury released a snippet of the song featuring a female vocalist and challenged fans to guess who the featured artist would be. Just a few hours later, he let the secret out on social media, posting single artwork featuring both artists and announcing a release date.
The new music drops Friday and Asbury has a new devotional book, also titled Reckless Love, which published Tuesday. The idea for the new recording came as he was brainstorming ways to revive the song around the book release. “We were sitting around the dinner table with a couple of friends thinking of ways to get ‘Reckless Love’ before people’s eyes again, even though I know a lot of churches are still singing it,” he says of the popular worship anthem.
“Reckless Love” has swept the Church and become an anthem in the Christian community since its release. This new version is sure to connect with fans and make an impact, especially with the addition of Kelly who released a Gospel album of her own in 2018 entitled Hiding Place.
With the combination of the heartfelt worship of Cory Asbury and the powerhouse vocals of Tori Kelly, this single is sure to be amazing, both in message and music. “Reckless Love” featuring Tori Kelly is available now to pre-save on Spotify and releases Friday, January 10, 2020.
